Same as it ever was
Jan. 11, 2011 - A lone trucker stands among the trucks at a standstill near Clark Howell Highway. The eastern stretch of I-285 south of the airport did not move between most of I-85 and I-75 and hasn’t since early Monday morning where truckers and vehicles were locked on a sheet of ice. Workers for the Georgia Department of Transportation have been out weathering the icy conditions, laying salt on the major roads. The interstates are their first priority, but smaller crews simultaneously work the larger state routes, according to DOT. They’ve cleared several previously impassable stretches of state highways such as Old National Highway and northbound I-85 at exit 166. But many spots remain impassable, such as the ramp from Ga. 400 to the North Springs MARTA station. The DOT is urging people to stay off the roads. John Spink firstname.lastname@example.org
